About

Nanjing Medical University (NMU), located in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province in eastern China. NMU was originally established in 1934 as Jiangsu Provincial College of Health Policy and Management. In 1957, the institution changed its name after relocating from Zhenjiang to Nanjing. Today, NMU has over 15,000 students and admits about 500 new international students each year.
NMU was one of the first universities in China to offer English-taught bachelor’s degree programs in medicine, a move approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.
The university has two campuses: Wutai and Jiangning, which are located in different districts of Nanjing. The Jiangning campus, which was bigger, is the hub for teaching, research, and administration and is mostly used for undergraduate programs. On the other hand, the Wutai campus offers postgraduate courses with an emphasis on clinical teaching and research.
NMU is also a center of medical literature, with its university library housing over 1.08 million printed medical resources, 1.5 million e-resources, and more than 6,000 journals in various languages. In addition, the university itself publishes 11 academic journals. It’s also affiliated with 29 hospitals and more than 50 teaching hospitals across Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Shandong provinces.
