Foundation courses are ideal for international students who plan to pursue undergraduate or graduate degrees in China but need to enhance their academic qualifications or language skills.

These programs are particularly beneficial for students who may not meet the direct entry requirements for their desired degree or those looking to improve their proficiency in Chinese or English.

Whether you need extra support in core subjects or want to acclimate to the Chinese education system, foundation courses offer the essential preparation for your academic journey.

Foundation courses typically last one academic year, though the exact length may vary depending on the university and the student’s academic goals.

Some programs may offer accelerated tracks or flexible study options based on individual needs.

Applicants generally need to have completed high school or its equivalent.

Depending on the language of instruction, proficiency in either Chinese (usually HSK 4 or 5) or English (IELTS 5.5-6.5, or TOEFL 70-80) is required. Some programs may also consider academic records and recommendation letters.

Upon successful completion, students receive a certificate and are often better positioned to meet the entry requirements for their intended degree program.

Foundation courses also provide students with the academic and language skills necessary to thrive in a degree program, offering a smoother transition into university life in China.
