Nanjing University, also known as Nanjing University of China, is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in China. The university was founded in 1902 as Sanjiang Normal School. It has undergone several name changes and expansions over the years, officially becoming Nanjing University in 1950.

Campus Facilities
Nanjing University currently has four campuses: Xianlin, Gulou, Pukou, and Suzhou. Most first-year students study at the Gulou campus. From the second year onward, they transfer to the Gulou, Xianlin, or Suzhou campuses depending on their major.
The first impression of Nanjing University is that it’s huge, but there are plenty of bikes around campus, so you don’t have to walk too much.
The campus is quite beautiful, with most buildings in gray tones, but some iconic buildings have unique designs. The roads are clean and well-maintained, and the greenery is impressive.
Most professors are leaders in their fields. Even for general education courses, the professors might be Changjiang Scholars. Not to worry, as most professors are friendly and approachable.
Most students are highly self-disciplined. The overall learning atmosphere is strong, and it’s often hard to find a seat in the library.
Undergraduate Dormitory Facilities

Dormitory fees are 1,200 RMB per year. The dorms are four-person rooms with a loft bed and desk, air conditioning, water dispensers, and private bathrooms. There are even public washing machines downstairs, which can be used with a QR code scan.
The dormitory area is very well-equipped, with supermarkets, a courier service point, a campus clinic, sports fields, and a gymnasium nearby.
Cafeteria Facilities

Nanjing University has several dining halls offering a variety of dishes.
Students often visit dining halls four, five, and six, which are located near the teaching buildings. These dining halls offer a variety of Nanjing specialties, including saltwater duck and braised duck.
Additionally, you can find porridge, noodles, barbecue, burgers, dumplings, teppanyaki, and more.
If you get bored of these options, you can head to the halal dining hall in another dormitory area for a change of taste.
On campus, there are also dessert shops and bubble tea stores. For a more upscale experience, there’s even a Paris Baguette! Outside the campus gates, there are rows of barbecue restaurants, perfect for gatherings.
